Common Issues with Beauty Filters and Keying

Issue 1: How to hide the beauty filter feature?

Comment out the beauty filter initialization code in the SDK and hide the corresponding UI elements for beauty filters.

Issue 2: The program prompts "Failed to retrieve beauty filter information," causing a crash

The account is not configured with the required Volcengine package parameters for beauty filters. If beauty filters are not needed, simply remove the initialization code. If beauty filters are required, contact support to configure the package name.

Issue 3: How to use beauty filters in a multi-scenario SDK?

Polyv's multi-scenario SDK supports Volcengine's beauty filter SDK, but it must be purchased separately. Contact Volcengine to purchase the beauty filter SDK, obtain the authentication file, and provide the parameters to Polyv for configuration.

Issue 4: When starting a broadcast with beauty filters on a phone, it prompts "Beauty filter failed to start"

The beauty filter SDK's authorization file has expired. Contact Volcengine to renew the authorization file, and resubmit the updated parameters and package name to Polyv for configuration.

Issue 5: When starting a broadcast using the Polyv live streaming PC client, clicking the beauty filter toggle has no effect or fails to start

Check the client logs for the corresponding time. Generally, this is due to missing dynamic link libraries or critical DLLs. Identify the specific missing DLL from the logs and repair it individually, or uninstall and reinstall the client.

Issue 6: When starting a broadcast using the Polyv live streaming PC client, enabling the keying feature does not display the person's image

Keying requires a certain amount of device computing power. If the device's CPU or memory is strained, the keying feature may not work properly. Switch to a device with better performance. Generally, an Intel Core i5 (7th generation) or higher CPU is sufficient. Also, check if there are background programs consuming significant system resources and try closing them to free up more performance.

Issue 7: After using AI keying, abnormal images appear, such as incomplete person images or unclear edges

If the color difference between the person and the background in the image is small, the keying process may "accidentally cut out" parts of the person. Adjust the background and lighting appropriately, or change clothing items with similar colors.

Issue 8: When starting a broadcast using the Polyv live streaming PC client, enabling AI keying reports an error, prompting "AI keying failed to start," or the feature keeps "spinning" while loading

The AI keying certificate could not be obtained, causing the feature to fail to start.

  1. If the client version is outdated, upgrade the client to resolve the issue.
  2. If the issue occurs on a specific network, check the corresponding network requests to see if there are any connectivity issues or firewall restrictions.

Issue 9: When using green screen keying, parts of the hair are also cut out

Lighting causes the person to "reflect green," meaning the edges or top of the person's head appear green, affecting the live stream quality.

Solution 1: Ensure the green screen is flat and wrinkle-free. Use an iron to smooth out any wrinkles.

Solution 2: Use multiple lights, including key light, fill light, rim light, and background light. The key and fill lights provide even illumination, the rim light outlines the person's silhouette, and the background light evenly lights the green screen.

Issue 10: If you need to start a broadcast in an intranet environment and use beauty filters, which network inbound and outbound rules need to be configured for beauty filters?

Add the following domains and ports to the inbound and outbound rules for whitelisting:

Beauty filter authorization request domain: cv-tob.bytedance.com

Update request domain: odm.polyv.net

Port: 443
