How to Save More Bandwidth Using the POLYV Backend (FAQ Topic 10)
Users all hope to increase their website traffic while saving bandwidth used by their site's videos. How can you save bandwidth without affecting the normal playback of your website's videos?
1. Video Playback Settings: Set Auto-Play to No If auto-play is enabled, the video will start playing automatically when users open the webpage. This can waste unnecessary bandwidth from visitors who accidentally clicked into the site. By setting auto-play to No here, you can effectively reduce unnecessary bandwidth consumption caused by accidental visits.
2. Video Playback Settings: Set the Preferred Playback Quality to Smooth For the same video, different quality levels consume different amounts of bandwidth. For example, playing a video in high definition for one hour generates approximately 225 MB of traffic, while playing the same video in smooth quality for one hour generates about 90 MB—a difference of 135 MB. If you set the preferred playback quality to Smooth, you can save a significant amount of bandwidth. Visitors who require high-definition video can manually adjust the quality themselves.
