How to Save More Space Using the POLYV Backend (FAQ Topic 9)
For those who have used or are about to use the POLYV cloud video service, saving space more effectively is a common concern. How can you better conserve your video space?
1. Compress Videos Before Uploading
Based on the earlier explanation of video space calculation, you likely already know the basic principle of how POLYV calculates video space: whatever you upload consumes that amount of space. Following this principle, you can compress and encode video files using tools like Format Factory before uploading. To achieve the best compression results, POLYV recommends the following encoding standards:
Video encoding format: H.264
Bitrate: 1000 kbps
Resolution: Default
File name: .flv or .mp4
Audio encoding format: AAC, bitrate 64 kbps
2. Delete Expired Videos
In addition to compressing videos before uploading, you can also use a handy trick: deleting expired videos.
Regarding video deletion, the POLYV backend has a two-stage setup:
- Video Recycle Bin
- Permanent Video Deletion
If you only move expired videos to the recycle bin, you won't save any space. To free up space, you must permanently delete the videos. At the same time, the video files will be permanently removed from the POLYV video platform.
